The problem was a bad check valve on the water pump.
Rv check valve problem.
When this little known part fails it allows water to flow backward through the pump into the freshwater tank anytime you re hooked up to city water.
Inside is a plastic check valve plunger a spring retaining clip and small rub.

Check for a rebuild kit for the water pump and find out if the internal check valve is a user serviceable part some art some are not.

With some of the other issues above you may need to replace parts such as the belt impeller screen to the in line filter element pump wiring etc.
